MERRY CHRISTMAS!

merry christmas from the dolls!

i love christmas time and this year we got to spend it with my side of the family! it's the first time we've all been together since april and it was wonderful! 

the drive down was stressful with lots of worries of bad weather. but, i was so proud of myself...i drove in the snow! and i mean real driving in snow. not just going to the store real quick. last time we had to do a road trip in the snow i was a little less than helpful...we won't talk about that though

jonathan got to experience his first christmas with his cute cousins, hailey and delilah! look at them all together, they're adorable!

the best part of christmas is getting to spend time with all our family! we got to see my brother ryan and his wife, kiley who we haven't gotten to see since april and who knows when we will get to see them again! its such a treat to have the whole family together for christmas and my mom made her famous cinnamon rolls! we demand them every year; they just complete the christmas morning experience!

we also got to go tubing at brian head resort just north of  hurricane. it was so much fun racing down the mountain! and jonathan was absolutely adorable wearing 5 layers of snow suits and jackets!

sadly though almost everyone got sick. it started with hailey and moved to me and topher, then ryan and now jonathan has a cold, too. not the best way to end christmas! especially when you have to go back to work.

on real christmas we had to travel back to rexburg. so jonathan's first christmas was spent in a car. a little disappointing but to mine and topher's relief he slept the entire way! and he still slept during the night! it was our very own christmas miracle!

but we did get to celebrate a little bit and he got lots of new toys he doesn't know what to do with. when they make noise he just stares at it trying to figure out what it means.

5 MONTHS OLD...

time flies when you're having fun & life is definitely unexpected with jonathan around! he's always impressing me with new skills! his accomplishments are:
+ rolls over
+ sits up
+ stands (with assistance)
+ attempts to crawl
+ loves looking around!
+ sometimes eats Christmas lights
+ farts & burps a lot
+ likes laying in his baths without his chair!

today, jonathan had his first experience with rice cereal! it was fun to watch him figure out what to do. by the end, he was lunging for more! he's a regular porker, that kid! enjoy some documentation

BEACH DAY

for thanksgiving this year, we got to go visit topher's parents in oregon. it's such a pretty place and topher has wanted to take me to the coast for a while now and we finally got to go! i was so excited!  jonathan was a little monster on the way there and cried what seemed like the entire way! but i just kept looking forward to being at a beach. well...topher and i must have different definitions of a beach cause this certainly wasn't like the beaches i grew up going to in sunny san diego. now, i've never experienced a hurricane, but this is what i imagine they must be like. it was SO stormy! it was windy and rainy the entire time. i ventured outside for about 20 minutes down to the water and the walk back was one of the most exhausting walks of my life! the wind made it hard to walk, i couldn't see in front of me because of the rain, and the wind was blowing sand so violently, i felt like i was being sandblasted! regardless of the weather, it was a really fun trip! jonathan got to go outside with his grandpa, topher and i got to spend some great time with his family. i love family vacations! they are the best.

FOUR MONTHS OLD...

look at this cute kid! he's 4 months old! a list of his accomplishments:

• follows object with his eyes
• lifts his head and chest up
• minds his goo goo's and ga ga's
• reaches for his bear
• rolls over!!

sometimes i can't believe he's already 4 months old. but then i remember all the many times i woke up in the middle of the night and think, yup, that sounds about right! but in all honesty this little boy has brought a lot of joy into our lives and i can't imagine not having him with us! and we are so proud of our little chubbs!

happy halloween everyone! i had to work all day on the real halloween {literally, i worked 12 hours} so the day before we dressed up jonathan and carved pumpkins!

pumpkin carving is always a challenge for topher. i had to scoop out the goop and draw the pattern on there. "it was hard", but i think he did a pretty good job!

SNOW DAY...

snow day
noun:
a day on which the dolls take a day off to stay warm and play in the snow

it snowed all last night! early this morning i woke up with jonathan and saw the thing i have been dreading most: SNOW. when it came time to get ready for work, topher gave me the green light to take a sick day. that makes today a SNOW DAY. a day off from work and a day to introduce jonathan to the woes (or as topher would describe the wonders) of snow!

MY BOYS...

can i just say how much i LOVE these two boys. they are my two most favorite people in the world! i'm always sad to say goodbye in the morning and love coming home to them. even if jonathan is an absolute cry baby sometimes...a  lot of times. don't tell topher but i'm jealous he gets to stay home with him! even if it is only for four hours during a day. it makes a difference!
also, can i just gush about how grateful i am for my husband? he is perfect, no matter what he says! he is always supportive and ready to help me with anything. thank you!

TO BEGIN WITH...

back in '09 i met my wonderful husband, Topher in our middle east class at byu-idaho. i was talking to my friend, katelyn when he just jumped into our conversation. as class started he realized he "couldn't see and needed to move up a row". he's quite the catch and just a few months later we started dating. on aug. 12, 2011 we tied the knot for time and all eternity in the California San Diego temple. that was and still is the happiest day of my life!

we shared our fair share of adventures but the biggest one came on july 6, 2012 when Jonathan Allen Doll was born about 2 months early. the scariest day of my life happened when i was diagnosed with preeclampsia and was told they were going to have to deliver my sweet baby at 32 weeks! luckily, he was a healthy little boy born at 3lbs 5oz. he had to stay in the hospital for a month while he finished developing and most importantly, learned how to eat. now he's 3 months old, somewhere around 11 lbs and just barely growing out of newborn clothes! and people say they only wear them for a little bit...

now we're a family of 3 trying to make it through life and school. i never thought this is what my life would be like at 21 but i wouldn't trade it for the world! those boys are the happiest thing in my life.
